Our in ground worm tower Ukhu Pacha (under world) is the newest addition to the Pacha Compost Familia. Hand thrown with clay sourced from the banks of Matakana, it makes for a beautiful addition to your garden space.
How to use:
- Choose a suitable spot for your Worm Tower, ideally in the middle of your garden bed.
- Bury the Worm Tower into the soil leaving aprox 5-10cm exposed.
- At the bottom of the Worm Tower, place a bedding of damp shredded newspaper or cardboard, leaf matter or straw.
- Place your tiger compost worms onto the bedding. They will travel through the holes adding further nutrients to your soil and contents of your garden bed. Ultimately supporting your plants to thrive!
- Leave worms to settle for a few days before giving them their first feed. 1-2 handfuls of foodscraps is fine as you don’t want to overwhelm them.
Worms love
- Left over vegetable scraps, fruit and vegetable peelings
- Tea leaves and coffee grounds
- Torn up newspapers, egg and pizza cartons
- Crushed egg shells
They are not so keen on citrus and onions, so only add minimal of these.
Worms not included. However we recommend starting with aprox 500 compost worms.
